The first day is focused primarily on instruction and competitions from our coaching staff. The second day is primarily focused on games, prizes, awards, etc. Bottom line, your kids will learn, compete, grow and be dog tired by the end of each day!

Coaching Staff

Graham Baughn

Coach Graham Baughn brings over 15 years of coaching experience and a passion for developing athletes both on and off the field. A former NCAA Division I player at UNC Asheville, Graham has coached at multiple levels, including the University of Redlands (NCAA Division III) and Mullen High School, before becoming the Head Baseball Coach at Thomas Jefferson High School.

In recognition of his impact on student-athletes and the game, Graham was named the 2017 Denver Post All-Colorado Coach of the Year. His coaching philosophy centers on building confident, resilient players who compete with discipline, embrace challenges, and grow through the game of baseball.

Beyond the diamond, Coach Graham serves as Thomas Jefferson High School's College Counselor and teaches Psychology, giving him a unique perspective on helping young athletes develop mentally, emotionally, and academically. His mental performance sessions focus on confidence, resilience, leadership, and learning how to respond to adversity—skills that benefit players far beyond baseball.

Coach Graham is committed to creating an environment where every player feels challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential both as an athlete and as a person.

Sloan Steimel

TJ Alumni | Chapman University, Catcher

Sloan is a Thomas Jefferson High School graduate who has quickly established himself as one of the top young players to come through the Spartans program. After an outstanding high school career, he continued his baseball journey at Chapman University, where he has become an impact player behind the plate.

While at Thomas Jefferson, Sloan was named the 2024 Denver Player of the Year, earned First Team All-City honors twice, and was selected to the Denver Post All-Colorado Team, recognizing him as one of the state's premier high school players.

At Chapman University, Sloan was named the 2025 Rookie of the Year, and through his first two collegiate seasons has posted an impressive .333 batting average with a .395 on-base percentage, establishing himself as one of the program's rising contributors.

Sloan is passionate about helping young athletes develop both on and off the field. He looks forward to sharing his knowledge, leadership, and love for the game with the next generation of players at the TJ Baseball Experience.

Patrick Neely

Dawgs Coach | Youth Development Coach | Owner of Pat's Philly Cheesesteaks

Coach Patrick Neely is a valued member of the Dawgs coaching staff and is known as the team's ultimate "glue guy," bringing energy, positivity, and encouragement to every player he coaches.

At the TJ Baseball Experience Camp, Patrick will lead the 6–8 year old age group, where his patience, enthusiasm, and ability to connect with young athletes make him a perfect fit. He creates a fun, supportive environment that helps players build confidence while learning the fundamentals of the game and developing a love for baseball.

Outside of coaching, Patrick is the owner of Pat's Philly Cheesesteaks in Denver, where he has built a reputation for serving great food while being an active member of the local community. Whether he's at the ballpark or in the restaurant, Patrick is passionate about bringing people together and making a positive impact.

Parents can expect a coach who is energetic, approachable, and committed to making every camper feel welcomed, supported, and excited to come back to the field each day.

Derek Huntsman

Derek Huntsman comes from a true Thomas Jefferson Baseball family, continuing a legacy that runs through the program. With his brother having graduated from TJ just a few years ahead of him, Derek grew up around the culture, expectations, and pride that define Spartan baseball.

As a player, Derek competes as both a first baseman and pitcher, showing versatility and a strong understanding of the game on both sides of the ball. His competitive foundation was built early, highlighted by winning a 9U State Championship—an experience that helped shape his approach to winning, teamwork, and consistency.

Beyond the field, Derek is an energetic and well-rounded individual with a strong interest in the outdoors. He enjoys hiking, exploring, and even cliff jumping, reflecting his adventurous personality and willingness to take on challenges.

Derek brings a great attitude, strong baseball instincts, and a team-first mentality to the program. He is a great kid who represents the spirit of TJ Baseball and continues to grow within the game every day.

Tommy Cowan

Tommy Cowan is the founder of the TJ Baseball Experience and Snapback Sports Photography. A First Team All-League first baseman at Thomas Jefferson High School, he continued his playing career at Mendocino College before transitioning into coaching.

With seven years of coaching experience, including time as a Varsity Assistant Coach at Thomas Jefferson High School, Tommy now serves as Head Coach of the Denver Dawgs. His passion is helping young athletes develop confidence, strong fundamentals, and a love for the game.

As a father of four, Tommy believes baseball teaches lessons that extend far beyond the field. Through the TJ Baseball Experience, his goal is for every camper to leave as a better player, a better teammate, and a more confident young athlete.

Tyler Hrin

Tyler Hrin is a proud Thomas Jefferson alumnus who played four years of varsity baseball before continuing his career at Howard College and later at NCAA Division I Milwaukee.

A two-time All-State selection, Tyler earned Howard College's prestigious "Elly's Kids" Scholarship, recognizing his leadership, work ethic, and commitment to his teammates.

At Milwaukee, Tyler became a weekend starting pitcher and helped lead the Panthers to the 2026 Auburn Regional Championship, advancing to the final 17 teams remaining in the NCAA Tournament.

Denver Dawgs Players!

The Denver Dawgs players represent the next generation of Thomas Jefferson baseball. As current competitive youth athletes, these players understand exactly what it's like to be in the campers' shoes, making them the perfect role models for younger players.

Throughout the TJ Baseball Experience, the Dawgs players will serve the 6-8 year olds as camp mentors, helping demonstrate drills, encourage campers, assist coaches, and lead by example. They will also play a key role in the Rookie Division's Mental Performance session, sharing personal stories about overcoming failure, dealing with frustration, and learning how to compete with confidence and resilience.

Their energy, enthusiasm, and leadership help create an environment where younger campers feel welcomed, supported, and inspired. By building relationships with the next generation of Spartans, the Denver Dawgs players are helping carry on the tradition of Thomas Jefferson Baseball while demonstrating that leadership begins long before high school.

Kyle Hrin

Kyle Hrin was a four-year varsity starter at Thomas Jefferson High School, where he earned All-Conference honors as both a catcher and third baseman. Throughout his high school career, Kyle was known for his leadership, toughness, and relentless work ethic, helping set the standard for what it means to be a Spartan.

Following his playing career, Kyle transitioned into coaching, where he has spent the past several years developing young athletes and helping them build strong fundamentals, confidence, and a passion for the game. His experience working with players of all ages has made him a respected instructor who understands how to challenge athletes while creating a positive and encouraging learning environment.

At the TJ Baseball Experience, Kyle is excited to give back to the program that helped shape him as both a player and a person. He is passionate about teaching the game the right way, building confidence in young athletes, and helping every camper leave with improved skills, lasting memories, and a greater love for baseball.

TJ Alumni | Four-Year Varsity Starter

Jaden Hill

TJ Alumni | Coffeyville Community College & Florida Tech, OF

Jaden Hill is a Thomas Jefferson High School alumnus who has continued his baseball career at the collegiate level for the past five years. Throughout his journey, he has developed into a well-rounded player and leader, bringing valuable experience and perspective to the next generation of athletes.

During his time at Coffeyville Community College, Jaden earned All-Conference honors after an outstanding season. He currently plays at Florida Tech, where he has posted an impressive .351 batting average, .445 on-base percentage, and .541 slugging percentage while continuing to compete at a high level. Alongside his athletic career, Jaden is also pursuing his master's degree.

In addition to his playing experience, Jaden has two years of coaching experience and is passionate about helping young athletes build confidence, discipline, and a love for the game. He is excited to return to Thomas Jefferson and invest in the next generation of Spartans at the TJ Baseball Experience.

Nate Waterhouse

TJ Alumni | Barstow College, P | Legends Baseball Instructor

Nate Waterhouse brings a passion for player development and a wealth of playing and coaching experience to the TJ Baseball Experience. A graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, Nate continued his baseball career at Barstow College, where he further developed his knowledge of the game at the collegiate level.

For the past five years, Nate has coached and instructed players of all ages, helping athletes build confidence, refine their skills, and develop a deeper understanding of the game. As an instructor with Legends Baseball, he has worked with players ages 9–18, focusing on fundamentals, game awareness, and creating an environment where players can grow both on and off the field.

Nate is committed to helping every camper leave with improved skills, greater confidence, and an even stronger love for baseball.

Kenneth Weber

Kenneth Weber is a Thomas Jefferson High School alumnus and a lifelong student of the game whose baseball knowledge and leadership have made a lasting impact on the TJ baseball program. As a previous member of the TJ coaching staff for six years, he has been a steady presence in developing players and guiding the program’s culture.

Kenneth is also a baseball writer for Purple Row, where he brings a deep analytical understanding of the game to his work, further showcasing his reputation as one of the sharpest baseball minds around. His ability to manage the game, anticipate situations, and teach players how to think the game at a high level sets him apart as a coach.

Respected by players and coaches alike, Kenneth is known for his calm, professional coaching demeanor and his exceptional ability to connect with teammates and athletes. He has long been regarded as one of the best baseball minds in the program, consistently elevating those around him through insight, preparation, and leadership.

A true student and teacher of the game, Kenneth Weber continues to be a cornerstone of the TJ Baseball Experience.

Jesus Flores-Sanchez

Jesus Flores-Sanchez is a four-year varsity starter at Thomas Jefferson High School who has built his game through consistency, effort, and a strong understanding of baseball fundamentals. Over his high school career, he has developed into a reliable contributor and leader within the program.

At the varsity level, Jesus posted strong offensive production, including a career batting average around .328 with 78 hits, 59 runs scored, and 35 RBIs, showcasing both contact ability and steady run production throughout his high school career.

Beyond the numbers, Jesus is known for his commitment to the game and his desire to give back to the TJ baseball community. He is passionate about teaching younger players, helping them develop confidence, and passing along the lessons he has learned as a multi-year varsity athlete.

Jesus brings energy, leadership, and a player-first mindset to the TJ Baseball Experience, where he is dedicated to helping the next generation grow both on and off the field.
